A kindhearted Swiss woman stunned social media users with her gentle gesture after she bought a live lobster for $290 to set it free into the sea.

The tourist and her husband were at a seafood restaurant in Sardinia, Italy when she spotted the lobster inside of a transparent aquarium next to her table.

Chefs at the restaurant were baffled when they learned that the customer did not buy the crustacean to eat it but to return it back to where it belongs.

She asked whether it would “get hurt” if she dropped it into waters from a high fence outside the restaurant before releasing the animal into the ocean.

“At first, I thought she was joking,” said the co-owner of the Italian restaurant. “Then, I understood that the lady was serious and wanted to do a good deed.”

“Seeing her joy and excitement, I was moved too. She was very happy and thrilled to have been able to fulfill this wish, and we were happy with her.”
