An Alaska man had the catch of a lifetime late last month when he reeled in a fish that looked similar to an imaginary creature from Dr. Seuss’ “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.”

Joe Chmeleck’s vibrantly-colored rock greenling went viral on social media to the point that he himself was stunned by the huge internet response to his late August catch.

“I had no idea anything like that was going to happen…it’s been absolutely insane,” the lucky fisherman said.

“People are going crazy, so, so many people are like, ‘I’ve never seen anything like that.’ I think there are actually 17 different countries that have seen the post so far.”

Scientists suggested that the blue color of the fish comes from a green bile pigment called Biliverdin. Chmeleck didn’t seem to care about those explanations.

“We filleted it, cooked it up and it was absolutely fantastic,” he said.
